Five Pines Candle Co. was born from a simple belief: scent can carry us home. What began as a quiet creative spark has grown into a wilderness-inspired candle company rooted in the Northern woods, crafted with care, intention, and a deep love for the wild places that shape us.

After three decades as a hairstylist, Heather traded the salon chair for a slower, more elemental rhythm. What came next was a rediscovery of creativity through fragrance: blending, refining, and pouring stories into glass. What once felt like a side path quickly revealed itself as the truest one.

​

Today, Five Pines creates clean-burning coconut beeswax candles with wood wicks, reusable glass vessels, and house-blended fragrances designed to stir memory. Each scent is crafted in small batches by hand, polished with care, and poured with purpose. The “team” (Heather, one very loyal Australian Shepherd, and an occasionally opinionated English Shorthair cat) lives in the quiet philosophy that scent is a keeper of stories.

Rooted in the Wild North

Heather draws inspiration from her life in the Boundary Waters of northern Minnesota: camping under star-pinned skies, canoeing silent lakes at dawn, snowshoeing through spruce forests, and watching wildlife drift in and out of view like whispered visitors. These landscapes guide her work like a compass.

Raised in Kansas City, Heather moved to Saint Paul in 2017 and soon found herself pulled ever northward. The scent of pines, the hush of snowfall, the spark of campfire embers, the timelessness of old cabins tucked into the trees—these became the heartbeat of Five Pines.

A Love for Things With Stories

Heather has always been drawn to objects with soul: rustic textures, vintage finds, pieces that carry the gentle echo of lives before.
“I feel like things that are old have stories to tell. When I pick something up, I can almost feel the history.”

Her candles follow the same philosophy.
