Hello, September. š
Thereās something about September in the Northwoods.
The leaves have started to turn. Weāre losing a little more daylight each evening, darkness is settling in earlier, and the pace around here is beginning to slow. Summer still has a hand on the door, but fall is already slipping into the room.
And around Five Pines Candle Co., thereās a lot happening this month.
FALL ARRIVES SEPTEMBER 10 š
The Fall Collection officially releases September 10th, and I have been pouring, labeling, tweaking, sniffing, re-sniffing and generally surrounding myself with all things autumn.
This yearās collection is filled with everything I love about the season: crisp apples, warm spices, smoky woods, caramel, fallen leaves, pumpkin, evergreens and those deeper, moodier fragrances that belong to fall after dark.
I cannot wait for you to meet them.
MEET THE MOOSE COLLECTION š«
Yes. Moose.
The Moose Collection is joining Five Pines, and it may be one of my favorite little collections yet.
It has all the personality youād expect from something born in the Northwoods, with fragrances ranging from warm and cozy to woodsy, unexpected and just a little sophisticated.
Youāll be meeting candles like Velvet Moose and Copper Moose, with more members of this wonderfully peculiar herd to come.
Because apparently one moose candle was never going to be enough.
AND THEN THEREāS CANOE-BARU š¶
If youāve ever driven through Ely in the summer, you already know the inspiration.
A Subaru.
A canoe strapped to the roof.
Headed toward the Boundary Waters.
Naturally, it needed to become a candle.
CANOE-BARU started as one of our stickers and has officially wandered into the candle collection, with a rugged blend of cypress, pine, cedar and eucalyptus.
Itās a little bit road trip, a little bit wilderness, and very much for the people who believe putting a canoe on top of the car is a perfectly reasonable personality trait.
FIVE PINES GOT A REFRESH š²
You may have noticed things look a little different around here.
Earlier this year, I hired a branding designer to help me take everything I had built with Five Pines and give it a more intentional, polished identity.
She finished the new branding in July, and since then Iāve been slowly bringing it to life.
The brick-and-mortar shop has a fresh new look, and now the website does too.
There are still a few tweaks coming because, apparently, I am physically incapable of leaving well enough alone. But it finally feels like Five Pines has grown into its next chapter while still keeping its Northwoods roots firmly planted.

Iāll be traveling back to my home state of Missouri during that time for my motherās burial.
